Trio of Mojitos

This weekend, Thursday 3rd – Sunday 6th August 2017, we will be at Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival mixing and shaking a trio of Mojitos! We will be holding a Real Ale and Mojito Bar at the festival, come and see us! But if you can’t make it, don’t worry we have your back! Here are the recipes for the Mojito’s we will be serving at Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival so you can make them at home.

 

First up: The Classic Cuban Mojito

 

Equipment:

  • Mixing Glass
  • Boston Shaker (not essential)
  • Mudder/Rolling Pin
  • Tumbler Glass

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Limes (Cut into wedges)
  • Sugar Syrup, you can use granulated sugar but it will take longer to dissolve
  • Mint
  • We recommend Havana Club 3 year Rum (or any other white rum)
  • Soda Water

Instructions:

  • Muddle 3 lime wedges in a mixing glass using a professional muddler or a rolling pin. The aim is to squeeze all the juice out of the limes.
  • Add 1 shot of sugar syrup (25-30ml) depending on how sweet you like it.
  • Add a small handful of mint (5-6 leaves) rip the leaves and clap together in your hands before dropping into your mixing glass
  • Gently mix the leaves into your lime juice and sugar syrup
  • Add a scoop of ice
  • Add a double shot of Havana Club Rum
  • And shake, if you do not have a shaker simply mix the ingredients together with a spoon
  • Pour the contents into a Tumbler Glass and top up with Soda Water
  • Garnish with a Mint Sprig, add straws and enjoy!

Equipment:

  • Mixing Glass
  • Boston Shaker (not essential)
  • Mudder/Rolling Pin
  • Tumbler Glass

Ingredients:

  • Limes (Cut into wedges)
  • Lemons (Cut into wedges)
  • Sugar Syrup, or you can use granulated sugar but it does take longer to dissolve
  • Mint leaves
  • We recommend Beefeater Gin
  • Ginger Ale

Instructions:

  • Muddle 2 lime wedges and 2 lemon wedges in a mixing glass using a muddler or a rolling pin. Squeeze the lemons and limes until you have extracted all  of the juice.
  • Add 1 shot of sugar syrup, depending on how sweet you like it (25-30ml)
  • Add 5-6 mint leaves, rip the leaves and clap in your hands then drop into your mixing glass
  • Gently press the leaves into your lime, lemon and sugar syrup mixture
  • Add a scoop of ice
  • Add a double shot of Beefeater Gin
  • And shake, if you do not have a shaker, mix the ingredients using a spoon
  • Pour the contents of the shaker/mixing glass into a Tumbler Glass and top up with Ginger Ale
  • Garnish with a Lemon Wheel
  • Add straws and serve up!

Take a Trip to Paradise with: The Caribbean Mojito

 

Equipment:

  • Mixing Glass
  • Boston Shaker (not essential)
  • Mudder/Rolling Pin
  • Tumbler Glass

Ingredients:

  • Limes (Cut into wedges)
  • Blueberries
  • Sugar Syrup, you may use granulated sugar but it does take longer to dissolve
  • Fresh Mint
  • Havana Club 3 year Rum
  • Malibu Coconut Rum
  • Cranberry Juice

Instructions:

  • Muddle 3 lime wedges and a small handful of Blueberries in a mixing glass using a muddler or rolling pin. Press the fruit until all the juice has been extracted.
  • Add 1 shot of sugar syrup, depending on how sweet you like it (25-30ml)
  • Add mint (5-6 leaves) rip the leaves and clap together in your hands before dropping into your mixing glass
  • Gently press the leaves into your lime juice, blueberry and sugar syrup
  • Add a scoop of ice
  • Add 1 shot of Havana Club Rum and 1 shot of Malibu Rum
  • Shake or mix the contents together with a spoon
  • Pour the mixture into a Tumbler Glass and top up with Cranberry Juice.
  • Garnish with a Mint Sprig and add straws
  • Then sit back, relax and imagine the waves lapping at your feet!
