Weddings at The Hidden Hive in Derbyshire

When pulling into The Hidden Hive, expect surprises around every corner. Surrounded by the trees of the Derbyshire National Forest you drive down a little dirt road into a clearing where the large car park is. From here, turning left up the small grassed slope you come to a gorgeous lake, so quiet and peaceful, just one of many great spots for wedding photo’s. Walk a little way down the right hand side of the lake and you come to a clearing where some past couples have had their ceremony in the trees. Walk beyond this and you come to another lake, perfect for a welcome drink after the ceremony.

 

Going back through the car park and through the fenced area and you come to the tipi itself. Settled in front of a beautiful tree-lined paddock with lots of open space. The area is very secluded and tucked away providing a private and romantic atmosphere. Your ceremony can take place in this paddock area with the tipis as your back drop. The open space is also perfect for garden games.

 

The venue itself comprises of 3 giant tipi’s fitted together to create a vast outdoor event space. The front can be opened up for a free flowing indoor/outdoor atmosphere. With solid wood flooring and other luxuries for the perfect tipi wedding. Even the toilets are luxurious!

One of my favourite features of The Hidden Hive is the chill-out tipi at the far end of the 3 giant tipis. With an open fire pit and comfy seating area, this is where you would find me at the end of the night with an Espresso Martini in hand!

The venue caters for smaller intimate weddings and larger weddings with the capacity to seat 80 – 160 guests and accommodate 200 total evening guests.

With the flexibility to choose your own suppliers and decorations, there is a sense of a DIY wedding that you have put together. Choose your own caterers, florist, photographer, wedding cake baker. Or if you would prefer this to be done for you, simply select them from The Hidden Hive’s approved list of suppliers.

You really wouldn’t have to do much in the form of decorations for this venue as it comes with an abundance of fairy lights inside the tipi’s and festoon lighting outside that you really appreciate in the evening when it starts to get a little darker, they really set off the warm romantic vibes. But the tipi’s do provide a blank canvas that you could really do what you want with, any colour scheme would look great next to the sandy coloured back drop of the tipis.

The venue comes with a fully serviced bar (provided by yours faithfully!) and stocks a range of bottled lagers, ales, ciders, wine, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks. It also has 2 draught options, Platinum Blonde Ale & Estrella Lager. With different drinks packages to include welcome drinks, table wine/lager, toasting drinks or a cocktail reception.

When hiring The Hidden Hive this comes with a 3 day hire period, allowing you ample time to set up the day before, enjoy an amazing wedding day and collect your things the day after, so you can relax and enjoy every minute of your day!

There are on and off-site accommodation options available including glamping in Bell Tents or Pods, pitching your own tent or staying over at a nearby hotel.
