We were preparing for Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival and thought you might like to know some more about the Real Ales we will be serving. Our Real Ales at Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival are from the local Milltown Brewery, based in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield. We will be serving 2 of their most popular brews: Platinum Blonde and the new Tiger’s Tail. Here’s some more information and tasting notes…
Milltown BreweryMilltown Brewery is based on 1 simple principle. Quality. And to brew high quality, traditional beer, you need high quality ingredients.
- The malts used in their beers are sourced from the finest local maltsters, Fawcett’s of Castleford.
- Their whole leaf hops are from Charles Farams of Worcester.
- And lastly, the finest water in the world – Yorkshire water! 😁 😋
The Platinum Blonde is refreshingly spicy with a hint of floral. At 4% abv it is brewed with a combination of the finest Maris Otter pale ale malt and Wheat malt to enhance the biscuit element. Hopped with a carefully planned out mix of Challenger, Cascade and Mount Hood hops providing a earthy, herbal and citrussy flavour. This is a great session ale!
The Tiger’s Tail is a session IPA with fruiy, citrus notes from Simcoe Hops. At 4.1% Abv it is brewed using the finest Maris Otter pale ale malt with a little Wheat malt added. Hopped early in the boil with Chinook hops to provide a little bitterness and then hopped late in the boil with generous helpings of Simcoe hops providing a unique herbal, pine, grapefruit citrus flavour and aroma. This is a very easy drinking ale and great for new ale lovers.
